MY Thesis Project
Spring 2022
Part of my requirements for graduation was to create my thesis project to exhibit my knowledge gained throughout my college experience as well as show how I can create, design, and sculpt a project from start to finish.
The thesis guidelines were to create a project whether it be a business, rebranding a company, or even a new product while also finding a way to make it part of a bigger picture in our society. We were allowed to showcase our designing skills in however we saw fit and were given full independence as well as creative freedom.
For my project I decided to create a tattoo parlor business that impacted and effected social norms. As a person with many tattoos I love learning all about them as well as their industry and designs behind it.
I recently discovered that the tattoo industry is male dominant and there was a negative connotation surrounding female tattoo artists. This was the main issue I was targeting so I created my company, "Permanent and Powerful", a female owned and female run tattoo parlor that created a space for women to feel welcome and supported.
I also wanted to fight the general stigma surrounding people with tattoos. Many people view tattoos as unprofessional or dirty but in my opinion, much like my generation, tattoos are just seen as a form of expression.
I connected my tattoo parlor to the community by creating the idea to have a flash sale on tattoos on the first Sunday of each month. As the owner of my business, I would ask my artists to donate their time so that any profits would be donated to a local domestic abuse shelter I had recently learned about called S.O.F.I.A.
